What is Somatic Experiencing®?
Somatic Experiencing® (SE) is a body-centered approach to healing that helps regulate the nervous system and release the effects of stress, trauma, and overwhelm. SE is based on the understanding that trauma and chronic stress are not only stored in our minds but also in our bodies—within the nervous system’s natural responses of fight, flight, and freeze.
Rather than revisiting or retelling painful stories, SE invites gentle awareness of the body’s sensations, impulses, and rhythms. Through mindful attention and pacing, we help your body complete the stress responses that may have been interrupted or held for years. This process restores a sense of safety, balance, and resilience.
